Minn Kota Ultrex QUEST 90/115 Trolling Motor | Dual Spectrum CHIRP | 24/36V | 52" Shaft
Minn Kota Ultrex QUEST 90/115 Trolling Motor with Dual Spectrum CHIRP – 52"
For tournament bass anglers, walleye fishermen, and multi-species anglers who demand the feel of cable steering with the precision of modern GPS technology, the Minn Kota Ultrex QUEST 90/115 with a 52-inch shaft is the sweet spot of the Ultrex QUEST lineup. It delivers the same legendary cable-steer responsiveness as the 45" model — with the added prop depth and rough-water stability that larger boats and bigger water demand.
Built on Minn Kota's QUEST brushless platform, this motor delivers 90 pounds of thrust on 24 volts or 115 pounds on 36 volts, giving anglers the flexibility to match power to conditions. The programmable heel-toe foot pedal provides the direct, mechanical steering response tournament anglers rely on, while Spot-Lock with Jog, AutoPilot, and Drift Mode handle boat positioning automatically when you need both hands free.
Why the 52-Inch Shaft Is the Sweet Spot
The 52-inch shaft is one of the most versatile options in the Ultrex QUEST lineup — and for most tournament bass boats and multi-species rigs, it's the right choice.
Here's why: as bow height increases on larger boats, a 45" shaft can leave the propeller partially out of the water when the bow rises in waves or when the boat is heavily loaded. The 52" shaft provides the additional prop depth needed to maintain consistent thrust, reliable Spot-Lock performance, and stable boat control in those conditions.
Anglers who regularly fish windy reservoirs, open-water structure, large inland lakes, or Great Lakes tributaries often prefer the 52" because it keeps the prop submerged and working when conditions get rough. It's also the preferred shaft for deep-V walleye boats and larger multi-species rigs where bow height is greater than a typical bass boat.
- More prop depth for larger, taller-bow boats
- Better Spot-Lock stability in waves and wind
- More consistent thrust when the bow rises
- Preferred by walleye and multi-species anglers
- Ideal for windy reservoirs and open-water fishing
- Still easy to trailer and maneuver

Why Choose Ultrex QUEST?
Most retailers describe Ultrex as just another GPS trolling motor. It isn't. The biggest reason tournament anglers choose Ultrex over fully electric-steer motors is because it feels like a traditional cable-steer motor — with GPS features added on top, not the other way around.
Unlike Ulterra, which focuses on maximum automation with Auto Stow & Deploy and Power Trim, or Terrova, which emphasizes electric steering, Ultrex is built around control. That distinction matters on tournament day.
- Responsive cable steering — the defining feature
- QUEST brushless platform for more torque and longer runtime
- Advanced GPS navigation (Spot-Lock, Drift Mode, AutoPilot)
- Spot-Lock with Jog for precise repositioning
- Dual-voltage 24V/36V operation
- Programmable heel-toe foot pedal
- Lift-Assist mount
- One-Boat Network compatibility
- Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar
- Legendary tournament-proven steering feel
Best For
The 52" Ultrex QUEST is purpose-built for anglers who fish bigger water and bigger boats at the highest level.
- Tournament bass anglers on 19–21' boats
- Deep-V walleye boats
- Multi-species fishing rigs
- Large inland reservoirs
- Great Lakes inland waters
- Offshore ledges and open-water structure
- Windy lakes and rough-water conditions
- Standing timber and weed edges
- Precision casting on larger platforms
Cable Steering — The Defining Feature of Ultrex
Ask any tournament angler why they chose Ultrex and the answer is almost always the same: it steers like a cable motor. That's not an accident — it's the entire design philosophy.
Cable steering delivers instant response the moment your foot moves. There's no lag, no interpolation, no electric motor translating your input. The connection between your foot and the prop is direct, mechanical, and immediate — exactly what anglers have relied on for decades of tournament fishing.
- Instant steering response with zero lag
- Natural cable-steer feel anglers already know
- Precise boat positioning for tight-quarters fishing
- Tournament-preferred steering feel
- Reduced cognitive load — steer by feel, not by thought
QUEST Brushless Technology
The QUEST platform is Minn Kota's most advanced motor architecture ever developed. Every component has been redesigned from the ground up to deliver more performance with greater durability.
- Increased torque — more pulling power at all speed settings
- Quieter operation — brushless design eliminates motor noise that spooks fish
- Better efficiency — more runtime per charge than previous generations
- Dual-voltage flexibility — run 24V for 90 lbs or 36V for 115 lbs from the same motor
- Reinforced mount — engineered for larger, heavier boats
- Redesigned prop — improved thrust and weed resistance
- Improved durability — built for extreme freshwater fishing conditions
Spot-Lock with Jog
Minn Kota's legendary GPS anchoring holds your exact position automatically — compensating for wind, current, and wave action without any input from you. On bigger water where wind and current are constant factors, Spot-Lock is the feature that keeps you on fish when conditions change.
Use Jog to reposition your Spot-Lock location in precise 5-foot increments from the Micro Remote. When the fish are tight to a specific piece of structure, Jog lets you dial in your position without re-anchoring.

Dual Spectrum CHIRP Sonar
The integrated Dual Spectrum CHIRP transducer delivers outstanding traditional sonar performance when connected to a compatible Humminbird fish finder.
- Excellent fish arches and target separation
- Crisp bottom detail and structure identification
- Superior performance in deep water
- Clean, protected transducer installation — no separate transducer to mount
- Compatible with Humminbird HELIX and APEX units via One-Boat Network
Who should choose Dual Spectrum CHIRP instead of MEGA Side Imaging? This version is ideal for anglers who primarily use traditional 2D sonar, already own a Live Sonar unit, don't need integrated Side Imaging, or want the best possible fish separation and bottom detail without the added cost of MEGA imaging.
Programmable Heel-Toe Foot Pedal
Most competitors barely mention the foot pedal. We think it's one of the most important features on any trolling motor — and Ultrex QUEST's programmable heel-toe pedal is the best in the category.
- Customizable buttons — assign GPS functions to the positions that make sense for your fishing style
- Cable-steer feel — direct mechanical connection for instant response
- Integrated GPS controls — activate Spot-Lock, AutoPilot, and Drift Mode without reaching for a remote
- Reduced hand movement — keep your hands on the rod, not the remote

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose Ultrex instead of Ulterra?
Ultrex is designed for anglers who prefer the immediate response of cable steering while still benefiting from advanced GPS features like Spot-Lock and AutoPilot. Ulterra focuses on maximum automation with Auto Stow & Deploy and Power Trim — it's the right choice if you want the motor to do everything for you. Ultrex is the right choice if you want to stay in control.
Why choose the 52" shaft over the 45"?
The 52" shaft provides additional prop depth for larger, taller-bow boats and performs better in rough water or windy conditions where the bow rises and falls. If you fish a 19–21' tournament bass boat, a deep-V walleye boat, or regularly fish open water and large reservoirs, the 52" is typically the better fit. The 45" is ideal for lower-profile bass boats where a shorter shaft provides excellent depth without unnecessary length.
Why choose Dual Spectrum CHIRP over MEGA Side Imaging?
Dual Spectrum CHIRP is ideal for anglers who primarily use traditional 2D sonar, already own a Live Sonar unit, don't need integrated Side Imaging, or want excellent fish separation and bottom detail. If you fish open water, deep structure, or rely heavily on traditional sonar, CHIRP is the better fit.
Does Ultrex QUEST include Power Trim?
No. Power Trim is a feature of the Ulterra QUEST, not Ultrex. Ultrex uses a Lift-Assist mount for manual deployment and retrieval. If Power Trim is important to your fishing setup, the Ulterra QUEST may be a better fit.
What batteries do I need?
For 24V operation (90 lbs thrust), use two 12V deep cycle batteries. For 36V operation (115 lbs thrust), use three 12V batteries. We recommend lithium for maximum runtime and minimum weight. See our Battery Guide for complete recommendations.
